Trial updates in mpls downtown (4/16/21)

Testimony is now complete in the State of Minnesota vs. Derek Chauvin trial as both the defense and prosecution rested their cases on Thursday. Judge Peter Cahill adjourned the jury until Monday, and in the meantime the court will establish final jury instructions.

Closing arguments are scheduled to begin Monday morning. Once closing arguments are completed, the jury will begin their deliberation in advance of a verdict. We will keep you informed on when the trial will move into jury deliberation.

We continue to be confident in the planning and preparation that has kept downtown operating while protecting and honoring the first amendment right to protest throughout this trial, and that will continue through the jury deliberation and verdict.
