MISSION STATEMENT

The East Town Business Partnership serves as an advocate for the Downtown East and
Elliot Park business and residential community, promoting a safe, healthy, productive, and
collaborative environment between businesses, residents, and visitors alongside city,
county and state civic leaders.

SUMMARY COMMUNITY VISION

East Town: A Vibrant, Multifaceted and Connected Community
Whatever your lifestyle or interest, East Town is the place to connect. The community is a
regional focal point that offers a diverse range of activities and services near the center of
Downtown Minneapolis. You’ll walk streets that are rippling with people living everyday
lives and many activities to choose from, including parks where you can rest and play,
venues to watch a performance, and a stadium where you can experience the big game.

COMMUNITY PILLARS

Vibrant: adjective
Full of energy and enthusiasm: a vibrant cosmopolitan city.

A Vibrant Metropolitan Community
East Town is an area of downtown where the streets are accessible and full of life with activities and opportunities for everyone. Situated on the ancestral land of the indigenous Dakota people, it has grown from a bustling center for milling, commerce, and medical care, to a city hub of activity, with sports, performing arts, healthy living, supportive services, and shopping. East Town is thriving and growing as a dynamic place to live work and play in Downtown.

Multifaceted: adjective
Having many facets, as a gem; having many different parts.

A Multifaceted Enclave Welcoming a Diverse Population
There’s no one way to enjoy East Town. The community includes the Downtown East and Elliot Park Neighborhoods, as well as the Mississippi Riverfront, and welcomes a diverse, multi-cultural population and wide variety of lifestyles. As you stroll down East Town streets, no matter who you are or how you spend your time, you’re you are welcomed into a caring, active, supportive and inclusive community.

Connected: adjective
Having parts or elements joined or linked together; having social, professional, personal or commercial relationships.

A Focal Point of the City
As a multi-modal hub ranging from bicycle to rail and automobile transportation, located near the center of the city, it’s not hard to reach East Town, and you can get anywhere from here. If Minneapolis is the hub of the Midwest, East Town is a focal point. Whatever your interest, this district is accessible and where people come to connect.

ABOUT THE EAST TOWN BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP

The East Town Business Partnership is a geographically-based business and professional association which supports the activities of businesses, non-profit corporations, and property owners in the Downtown East and Elliot Park neighborhoods of Minneapolis. The organization was incorporated in 1979 as the Elliot Park Business and Professional Association (EPBPA).  The name was changed in 1999 to the East Downtown Council to more accurately reflect the organization’s growing constituency.

On May 5, 2016, after almost two years and countless community engagement meetings with the many stakeholders interested in the East side of Downtown Minneapolis, the East Downtown Council Board of Directors changed its name to the East Town Business Partnership and officially adopted “East Town” as the new name for our business district. East Town has the new Commons Park as its heart, along with the Wells Fargo mixed-use development, US Bank Stadium, the refreshed Armory, and several new and revitalized businesses, amenities, and public assets.
