One River, One Minute, Your Vision

August 5, 2014 By EDC

MississippiFilmFestival - Top LogoSHARE YOUR VISION OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER IN MINNEAPOLIS IN A 60-SECOND LONG VIDEO THAT INFORMS, ENERGIZES AND INSPIRES!

The Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership seeks to make the invisible visible
at our annual Riverfront Summit on October 20, 2014 via the engaging medium of video.

We invite you to create a vision that tugs at heartstrings or makes people laugh,
that showcases an appreciation for – or the future potential of – the urban riverfront in Minneapolis. Most important, we want the film to inform, energize, and inspire our citizenry to action – all in 60 seconds!

WHO:
Open to all

WHAT:
One-minute-long visual essay on the Minneapolis stretch of America’s greatest river

WHERE:
We encourage submissions that highlight one of these four geographic areas – but don’t let that stifle your creativity:

River Gorge: Ford Dam to Washington Ave Bridge
Downtown Riverfront: Washington Ave Bridge to Plymouth Bridge
River North: Plymouth Bridge to Lowry Bridge
Upper Harbor: Lowry Bridge to City Border

HOW:
Films will be judged by a panel of experts including:

Jesse Bishop, Programming Manager, The Film Society of Minneapolis St. Paul
Ben Heywood, Executive Director, The Soap Factory
Brenda Langton, Chef and Restaurateur, Spoonriver Restaurant
Sarah McKenzie, Editor, Downtown Journal
Tom Meyer, Founding Principal, Meyer, Scherer and Rockcastle, Ltd.

WHY:
To inform, energize, and inspire our citizenry on how it can enliven our city. Films will be judged by a panel of experts and awards will be announced on Monday, October 20 at the Minneapolis Riverfont Summit.

WHEN:

  • Submissions due September 4th, 2014 at 5 p.m.
  • Juried by September 20, 2014
  • Projected on October 20 at 6:30 p.m.

CRITERIA:
Originality applauded. Pretend this will be shown to your grandparents in their living room – all the standard social concerns of profanity, nudity, drug use, nefarious activity, or the like should not find their way into the video.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS:
Visit the Mississippi Minute Film Festival Entry Form to enter your project!  Those who submit videos will be required to agree with our official contest rules.
