Mortenson/Thor to Hold Information Sessions Around Minnesota for New Multi-Purpose Stadium

July 25, 2013 By EDC

July 24,2013 (Minneapolis, MN) – The new Minnesota Multi-Purpose Stadium

Construction Manager, Mortenson Construction, will be holding information sessions

with project partner Thor Construction around the state to provide an overview of

the project including introducing the project team, reviewing the project schedule

and explaining the procurement opportunities and timeline. The Minnesota Sports

Facilities Authority and the Minnesota Vikings announced today that the information

sessions will be held in Minneapolis, Rochester, Duluth and Mankato.

“It is important that the new Minnesota Stadium be built by Minnesota companies and

by Minnesota workers,” said Michele Kelm-Helgen, Chair of the Minnesota Sports

Facilities Authority. “Mortenson/Thor representatives will be traveling statewide

to make sure that the Minnesota construction industry is aware of what opportunities

exist to be part of this historic project.”

The legislation enabling the construction of a new stadium sets goals for minority

and women owned business participation of 11% and 9% owned businesses respectively.

The legislation also sets goals for workforce participation of 32% minority and 6%

women in the construction phase. The Construction Services Agreement Equity Plan

also establishes a Veterans Inclusion Program to include veteran owned businesses

and veterans in the workforce of construction of the new stadium.

“We will be traveling the state to share information about this exceptional project

with all interested specialty contractors and suppliers,” said John Wood, Senior

Vice President of Mortenson Construction. “We want to ensure that we get the word

out to all potential vendors and contractors that there are many opportunities to

get involved.”
