Minnesota Multipurpose Stadium Construction Activity Update 01-23-14

January 23, 2014 By EDC

As you know, the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) in partnership with the Minnesota Vikings is building a new, multi-purpose stadium on the site of the Metrodome.  Mortenson/Thor is overseeing construction and will provide community construction updates on a regular basis. Below is a timeline of current and upcoming activities:

• Excavation: December 2013 – April 2014

• Demolition: January 2014 – April 2014

• Concrete Foundation: January 2014 – February 2015

We also wanted you to be aware that the first of five tower cranes will be erected beginning Saturday morning, January 25, through Sunday evening, January 26. To accommodate this process, 11th Avenue will be reduced to two lanes between the Light Rail Transit Line and 5th Street, starting at 8:00 pm Friday, January 24 through 5:00 am Monday, January 27. The bike lane will be closed, but the roadway can be utilized. The sidewalk on the east side of 11th Avenue will remain open. This is the first of five tower cranes to be erected and will be dismantled January 2015. Listed below are the durations for the remaining tower cranes. All tower crane assembly activities will involve some type of road/lane closures and will be scheduled on Saturdays or off hours to the greatest extent possible.

• Tower Crane #2: February 2014 – December 2014

• Tower Crane #3: March 2014 – April 2015

• Tower Crane #4: April 2014 – March 2015

• Tower Crane #5: June 2014 – June 2015

We look forward to continuing to update the neighborhood on the construction of Minnesota’s New Multi- Purpose Stadium on a regular basis. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Regards,

Lynn R. Littlejohn
Director of Community Affairs
Mortenson/Thor
