The East Downtown Council is a business association whose economic development work is funded by membership dues from organizations within the Downtown East and Elliot Park neighborhoods of Minneapolis. The East Downtown Business Distrcit is undergoing one of the most exciting moments of urban redevelopment in the past 50 years. The range of high potential development topics on the table include, the new Commons park, the completion of the Multi-Purpose Stadium; implementation of the Downtown Council’s 2025 Plan; introduction of the new Central Avenue Light Rail Corridor; and the DEEP Initiative. The East Downtown Council is fully engaged in these conversations and working on your behalf to advocate for your business’s success and for the overall economic strength and integration of development goals to benefit everyone who lives and works here. When your business is a member of East Downtown Council, you and all of your employees are members as well and are entitled to the full range of EDC resources, all designed to help your business thrive. The value and tangible benefits you receive include:

  • Official representation for Downtown East and Elliot Park businesses
  • Direct access to civic leaders
  • Enhanced business visibility via logo link on website and directory listing
  • Educational presentations at members’ locations
  • Influential representation on area development plans and initiatives
  • Economic development support via collaboration with area neighborhood associations
  • Wide reaching networking opportunities
  • Eligible for EDC administered business grants
  • Eligible to serve on the EDC Board of Directors
For the first time in more than seven years we are asking for members to renew their memberships at increased amounts. Most of the increases are only $50 per level, but a few were increased at higher levels to invite our larger institutional partners to support the necessary additional staff leadership to accomplish all that is before us.We are encouraging all members to consider membership at “Gold” and “Diamond” or “Platinum” levels to better help facilitate our communication, technology, and collaboration capacities.

Renewing your membership is simple. Please visit the new East Downtown Council Web site to RENEW or BECOME A MEMBER online. You can paying using your credit or debit card, or request to be invoiced.
