Dear Neighbor,
As you know, Hennepin County Medical Center is building a new clinic and specialty center on the site bounded by 8th Street, Chicago Avenue, Park Avenue and 9th Street. Mortenson is overseeing the construction and is providing neighborhood construction updates on a regular basis. As you are aware, construction activity is ongoing. As part of those activities, construction of a tunnel that will connect the clinic and specialty center to the Red building will commence Tuesday, April 5th and will last until mid-August. Traffic on 8th Street between Park and Chicago Avenues will be reduced to one lane. Public access to the emergency room entrance will remain open. Here is link to a map outlining the public pedestrian and traffic route. We will continue to update the neighborhood on the construction of the clinic and specialty center.
