December 2013 Business Forum at the Guthrie Theater

The next EDC Business Forum is scheduled for Thursday, December 19, at the Guthrie Theater.  Registration, lunch and networking starts at 11:30 a.m., with presentations starting at Noon.

This month’s forum is titled “Envisioning Downtown Minneapolis in 2025 Part Two: Development.”  Our guest speakers will be Mike Ryan, Chair of the Downtown 2025 Plan Subcommittee on Development and Rick Collins, Director of Development  at Ryan Companies.

Forum Description

Is it possible to double the downtown residential population, add 3 million square feet of office space, develop East Downtown, and forge new connections to the University of Minnesota by 2025? The innovative 2025 plan being implemented by business and civic leaders says, “Yes”!  Ryan and Collins will provide an overview of both the 2025 task force initiatives and an update on the Ryan Project being proposed on the Star Tribune Properties adjacent to the Stadium construction.

I.     Noon – Welcome and Introductions by EDC President Dan Collison (10 Minutes)

II.   12:10 p.m. – 2025 Plan Development Overview: Mike Ryan (20 Minutes)

III. 12:30 p.m. – Ryan Construction/Star Tribune Development Update: Rick Collins (15 Minutes)

IV.  12:45 p.m. – Q & A Moderated by EDC President Dan Collison (15 Minutes)

V.    1:00 p.m. – Adjournment

Presenters Biographies

Mike Ryan HSMike Ryan is a fourth generation member of the Ryan family and the director of architecture and engineering at Ryan Companies. Prior to his role at Ryan, Mike was a project manager and architect for the esteemed Robert A.M. Stern Architects in Manhattan, New York. Mike is currently leading the design of the 222 Hennepin project, the mixed-use, multi-family development on Hennepin Avenue.

 

 

Rick Collins HSRick Collins is the Vice President of Development and has worked with Ryan Companies for more than fourteen years specializing in commercial real estate projects. He is a 28-year veteran leader in the field of commercial development having been president of Welsh Companies, President of the Minnesota chapter of the NAIOP, A commissioner for the City of Bloomington Port Authority, and numerous non-profit boards.
