Upcoming trials in mpls downtown update (3/31/21)

April 1, 2021 By EDC

Statements began on Monday for the State of Minnesota vs. Derek Chauvin trial, and in the days since we have seen witnesses take the stand inside the courtroom and peaceful demonstrations take place outside Hennepin County Government Center. We will continue to provide updates throughout the trial.

The next City of Minneapolis news briefing related to the trial proceedings is expected to take place Thursday, April 1 at 10:30 am. The media briefing will be livestreamed on the City’s Facebook page, Twitter account, YouTube channel, website and broadcast on Comcast channel 14 and 799.

We continue to update information on trial proceedings as they happen. Remember the mdc trial resource page at www.mplsdowntown.com/trial includes FAQs, the expected trial timeline, helpful phone numbers and web links, maps, general downtown skyway and business updates, and more. This page will be updated regularly.

The City of Minneapolis’ trial resource page can be found at: https://www.minneapolismn.gov/government/programs-initiatives/trial-support-safety.

Operation Safety Net (OSN) continues to provide updates, and you can learn more on their website at https://safetynet.mn.gov/Pages/default.aspx or its social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. We expect the next OSN briefing to be Monday, April 5 at 2 pm.

Thanks for your continued partnership and support
