Jury selection wrapped up today in the State of Minnesota vs. Derek Chauvin trial. Opening statements will begin Monday, and as of today, 15 jurors have been selected to ensure there will be 12 jurors and two alternates ready for opening statements. The court is now in recess until Monday, March 29 at 9 am.
As the trial proceedings continue, mpls downtown continues to be open and fully operating daily.
As we look ahead, Operation Safety Net noted at this week’s news briefing that you may see proactive levels of law enforcement as the trial progresses, but only as deemed necessary based on intelligence needs and to honor the first amendment right to peacefully protest.
