ETBP Brown Bag Lunch and Learn Business Forum on February 7, at Wells Fargo

January 21, 2023 By EDC

Public Safety Perspectives: Placemaking and Environmental Design

Mark your calendars for a Brown Bag Lunch and Learn Business Forum sponsored by the East Town Business Partnership on Tuesday, February 7, from Noon to 1:30 p.m., at Wells Fargo.  This will be an in-person-only event.  Please bring your own bag lunch to eat during the forum.

Title: Public Safety Perspectives: Placemaking and Environmental Design

Speaker: Ben Shardlow, Director of Urban Design at the Mpls Downtown Council

Description:  The experiences people have in downtown public spaces, and how safe they feel, are shaped by how those places are designed and programmed. While public safety is an important issue for downtown Minneapolis, the perception of public safety is greater, and something that we all can improve through simple design intervention. With the DID, Ben has overseen a number of experiments in using placemaking and environmental design to improve the perception of safety in small and large spaces. His presentation will be followed by discussion and brainstorming of practical ideas for design interventions in East Town. Do you have a public space in or around your building (no matter how small) that could be made to feel safer and more comfortable? This workshop will give you some innovative, inexpensive ideas to implement!

Registration: Advance registration is required.  Please register for the event via the Eventbrite link below.

Please register for this event via Eventbrite.

Day-Of Information: Please arrive a little before Noon at Wells Fargo to go through their safety and security processes.  You will need a photo ID.  Please bring your own brown bag lunch to eat during the business forum.
